LED walls

LED walls and LED displays have become an integral part of today's media landscape. With brilliant luminosity and high reliability, they are used in many areas of modern communication.

VICOM plans, delivers and installs LED displays in all common standard sizes as well as special designs.
Of course, we also take care of maintenance and technical service. VICOM also offers the corresponding control software.

For advertising and information transfer: The digital signage package VICOM VisGuide or ShowCreator and for cultural events such as opera or theater the surtitling software VICOM SurtitlePro .

The latest technologies and know-how are always used. Our customers can therefore always be sure that the installations have the legal certifications.

The right LEDs for your application

There are numerous different LED configurations. Our requirement is to choose the best one for your project from all the options.

First of all, it is important to choose the optimal pixel spacing for the application. If this is too large, the viewer can see the individual pixels, which leads to a negative image impression. If the pixel spacing is too small, the viewer will no longer be able to recognize individual pixels, but the system will be disproportionately expensive.

VICOM offers customized solutions for all applications. In addition to the usual RRGB configurations (top left image), we also offer the modern RGB arrangement (top middle image) for outdoor use. The advantage here is the increased contrast and optimized cooling.

SMD LEDs are used indoors and are often referred to as all-in-one LEDs. Their design is extremely compact. The LEDs of the primary colors are integrated into a single small element. This means that the images appear extremely homogeneous even at small distances. SMD LEDs can be manufactured with a minimum distance of 3 mm and are therefore highly accepted even in conference rooms.

LED modules

With SMD technology, the red, green and blue LEDs are cast in a small compact housing so that a pixel is only visible as a dot.

These are sometimes used on outdoor walls. By using 2 red LEDs/pixels you can achieve a very high light intensity. At the appropriate distance, the eye can no longer resolve the individual LEDs.

Strip displays are often used in stage shows. The strip arrangement of the LEDs makes the displays appear semi-transparent.

In contrast to the left module, special SMDs are used here. They are cast in a dark plastic. This increases the contrast.

This LED arrangement is used on outdoor or indoor walls. The LEDs are smaller than in the example on the left. The additional black background area creates a higher contrast.

The right housings for your application

VICOM offers you the best for your application from a variety of housings and housing variants.

Our different housing designs ensure the greatest possible flexibility. First of all, this concerns the different sizes. The standard version is made of steel, alternatively aluminum is often available at an additional cost. External housings are IP65 approved with special seals. Depending on the intended use, the housings can be designed to be adjustable and/or suspended.

In the rental sector, slim-line housings are primarily used because their low weight makes handling particularly easy and often makes a crane unnecessary. Our Eco housings are preferred for shop window inserts. Although they are heavier than the other models, they are unbeatable in terms of price. Brightness sensors can be integrated to minimize power consumption.

Housing shapes

This housing has no fans and therefore enables silent use at the opera, theater, foyer, etc. With only 8 kg and quick-release mechanisms, silent housings are easy to set up.

Strip enclosures are used in stage shows. The strip arrangement of the LEDs makes the displays appear semi-transparent. They are also ideal for facade use because they are cost-effective.

The housing made of sheet steel is primarily used in permanent installations. Eco is the most cost-effective housing form.

This housing is made of die-cast aluminum and is therefore particularly torsion-resistant and light. Quick-release fasteners make assembly much easier.

Quality

One of the most important criteria for purchasing a VICOM LED wall is the extremely high level of quality. Each individual production stage is completed with a long-term test. For example, as in the picture on the left, when the LED modules are produced, they are operated at full load for 48 hours at controlled temperature and humidity, so possible errors become apparent under these extreme conditions.

These can be easily identified at this stage and repaired without high costs. Then, of course, we go back to the 48-hour long-term test. The modules are then installed in the housings. The contact reliability within each individual housing is then confirmed on a shaking table. Finally, the IP-65 waterproofness is checked in a diving tank. Once all production stages have been completed, all LED walls are subjected to a final 48-hour overall test under real conditions.

All walls are built in their original size and tested as a whole unit with video playback. A clean and professionally flawless execution is the basis for a perfectly functioning system. Of course, maintenance contracts can be concluded for VICOM LED walls at any time, so that the customer always has the certainty of a well-maintained system.
